Welcome to alerting in Wayfinder! Follow the steps below to configure your very own Wayfinder alerts. Tune in to the data that matters most in real-time and follow along with your fleet.

  1. Set and review vessel specific alerting thresholds
  2. Opt-in to specific alert types
  3. Select vessels

For more information on setting operational safety limits, please review Set and Confirm Safety Limits

1. Set and review vessel specific alerting thresholds

The thresholds that you see here are typically set by your fleet's safety teams during vessel onboarding and should not be changed by individual operators on a frequent basis.

If needed, you can reference the current limit in the "Profile" tab of the vessel details page. Note that these are distinct from operational routing limits, as they only inform alert behavior, not routing decisions. Raise the threshold if you want more margin before being notified; lower it if you want an earlier heads-up.

2. Opt-in to specific alerts types

Wayfinder offers a choice of five different alerts and each user can customize the alerts that they care about. Any time that an alert threshold is hit for a given vessel, the alert is sent to any users that have subscribed to the alert and the vessel.

Please note: Each alert type includes de-duplication logic to prevent users from receiving more than one notification for the same event. For weather-based alerts in particular, a new notification is only sent if the timing of the situation has changed enough to represent a meaningfully different state.

  1. Route Rejection Alerts: A route rejection alerts will be sent when a Wayfinder user clicks reject on a suggested route. Only one alert is sent for a given route suggestion.
