Add a vessel and complete onboarding in one guided flow, with key details pre-filled where available. Each vessel is set up with a custom Sofar vessel performance model (VPM), built from class-average data and continuously tuned with real-time performance data.

Before you start

Make sure the following are in place before onboarding:

• IT whitelisting — work with vessel IT to whitelist the required domains so the vessel can access Wayfinder.

Step 1 - Add a vessel

To get started, navigate to Vessel Onboarding — your central hub for adding vessels and tracking onboarding status. Enter the IMO number and select Save Vessel. Wayfinder automatically pre-fills available vessel data including safety settings, hull characteristics, and propeller information.

Note: vessels onboarded before this feature upgrade will not appear in this view.

Step 2 - Complete vessel particular questionnaire

The vessel particulars questionnaire captures the data needed to configure your vessel and build its performance model. Shoreside teams and captains can collaborate to complete it together.

Choose how to complete it:

• ✅ Captain-led — check the box to invite the captain now. They log in to validate pre-filled data and complete missing fields. Shoreside can review and contribute at any time.
• ☐ Shoreside-led — leave unchecked for shoreside to complete the questionnaire independently. The captain can be invited later from the onboarding dashboard.

Not sure which to choose? If the captain has the vessel-specific details needed to complete the form, captain-led is the faster path.

Does the vessel have limited connectivity? for vessels with restricted internet access, please use the CSV download to collect vessel particulars offline and upload once complete.

• Fields are validated in real time and any issues are flagged immediately
• A final configuration check runs before final submission
