Optimization is designed for Operators to add voyage-specific parameters, such as timing or fuel constraints, as well as updated market factors. Please use this feature at the start of every voyage (or when updates are required) to ensure a vessel's information is up to date.
Please note, depending on your preferred operating procedure, the Optimization tab can be made uneditable by captain accounts. In this case, operators will enter these parameters for the vessel, and captain accounts will only be able to view them.
Based on the Charter type selected upon route import, there will be unique constraints available to view and edit in the Optimization Tab of Wayfinder. The voyage constraints will be used to determine the optimal speed and route profile for the vessel. These parameters should be updated before commencement or when any change of voyage instruction is received from the Operation team or Charters.
Standard and ECA fuel cost and opportunity cost will remain from one voyage to the next if there are no changes made.
Note: Only Operator accounts can view Market Factors; these are not visible for Captain accounts.
This will take into account the calibrated vessel performance and the weather along the route to provide the vessel with a dynamic optimal RPM setting daily to ensure the vessel arrives before, at or within the Required Time of Arrival.
When to set: Only when voyage orders, Laycan or Charter Party agreement require a strict arrival time.
On: Arrive on specified date and time in UTC.
Before: If set to before, Wayfinder will provide speed guidance so that your vessel arrives prior to the date and time.
After: If set to after, Wayfinder will ensure guidance does not route your vessel to port before the specified date and time. For example, if your vessel must sail for two weeks as part of a COVID-19 quarantine procedure, you could set the RTA to after the start of the quarantine end time.
Between: Please use the between option if you would like your vessel to arrive within a specified date range. For example, if you would like your vessel to arrive in a specified tidal window.
This will take into account the calibrated vessel performance and the weather along the route to provide the vessel with a dynamic RPM setting to achieve the Average Speed over the course of the voyage.
When to set: Only when voyage orders or Charter Party agreement requires a strict set speed
This will take into account the calibrated vessel performance and the weather along the route to provide the vessel with an RPM setting daily to ensure the vessel stays within the prescribed Consumption Threshold.
When to set: Only when voyage orders or Charter Party agreement requires a strict consumption limit.
How to apply changes: Once constraints are input, click SAVE to confirm any and all changes
Please note: Any updated parameters will take effect in the next 0900 Local Vessel Time guidance for the vessel.
Constraints are required for Time Charter voyages.
This will limit Wayfinder's guidance to strictly adhere to the speed instructed in order to model the weather along the vessel’s route.
